Who teaches

Two teachers, both of whom came up through this work rather than around it.

Joni Muggivan

TCRG · Director

She started at four, under Paul Tinen, when Irish dancing was close to unknown in New Orleans. With teachers scarce at home, she chased workshops across the country, studying under Jean Butler and Colin Dunne, and later taught alongside Mary Ann McGrath Swaim, TCRG.

She reached Open Championship at fourteen, competed across the United States and in Ireland, and in 1998 became the first dancer from Louisiana to compete at the World Championships, dancing her own choreography.

She has performed at the North Texas Irish Festival, Notre Dame and Galveston’s Grand Opera House, and with Danny O’Flaherty, Legacy and the Celtic Folk. Loyola University and the Irish Cultural Society have both recognised her for it.

Angelle Stahl

Instructor · New Orleans

She grew up in ballet and jazz, dancing through childhood and into college, and came to Irish dance late and sideways: she saw dancers perform while studying in Ireland, and joined this school when she got home.

Within a few years she was teaching here. She has been dancing for nearly nineteen years now, and still travels to workshops and competitions around the country and abroad.

Which makes her the proof of the school’s own argument: you do not have to start at four.

Compete locally & abroad

Our dancers compete across the region and beyond, and the school hosts four feiseanna of its own each year. Dancers travel in for them, and families make a weekend of it.

Book us to dance

Parades, weddings, school assemblies, parties, openings. Our dancers are used to a small floor and a loud room. They have marched in the Santa’s Arrival parade at Lakeside and danced a holiday ceili in the studio.
